As we've been making the 'different drums' for over 30 years, as you can imagine, plenty of drummers, other musicians and sound guys have either played, purchased or recorded our gear.
We're happy to share some of their thought's in this part of the website.
If any Sleishman owners would like to contribute, please email us info@sleishman.com
"The first time I heard Sleishman Drums I was literally "blown away"!!! The punch from the bass drum was moving mountains and the toms seemed to sustain for weeks.
My current kit is a gorgeous natural blonde maple with 8"x6", 10"x8", 12"x8" and 14"x11" toms, 13"x7" Snare, 10"x3" Snare and 20"x16" Kick and I love it.
I've played all styles from Country to Funk and Rock and everytrhing in between. I've played with Torrid Zone, Boys In Black, Doug Williams, Gerard Maunick, Tony Martin, Tomie and the Boys, Helen Mottee, Jordan Worner and heaps more. As well as sessions for various artists, UNHCR, choirs, bla bla bla...
I'm constantly having sound engineers say to me "it's a pleasure to just push the faders up" which is true, because Sleishman Drums need no EQ or effects. They sing.
These are truly remarkable drums and there is no comparison. The pure fundamental tone, attack and warmth of these drums is amazing. The guys at Sleishman are incredibly good to deal with and I am proud to call them friends.

"At the time, I needed to upgrade my electronic kit. Instead, I was lucky enough to get the flag ship of the best acoustic kit fleet, worldwide."
Mark 'Quack' Milne, NSW Mid Coast, Australia- is a fairly new convert to Sleishman drums, having purchased their unique prototype Australian Blackwood stave shell design kit in August '09 through Adam at The Drum Shop Newcastle.
Quack was the original drummer in the northern Sydney 17 piece stage band "Harbord Diggers Big Band", and Rob Joyce’s 12 piece covers band "Enormous Horns".
He served his time in "Manly District Brass Band", Adrian Rodden's smooth jazz combo "Market Day", and BobMcGlynn's Central Coast classic 4 piece rock band "C.C. Shooter".
He was the sole drummer for David Elliott's originals band "Rum Jungle", and Brendan Render's Central Coast funky covers group "Heavy Tones".
Mark has run his own successful Northern Beaches and Central Coast "Earthquacke Big Band" from the kit.
He is currently the permanent drummer of Mike Hammond's tribute band "Robbie Williams Live".
He is also the resident sound dude for 6 piece Port Stephens rock and roll band "Wide Load".
He has also drummed in the orchestras of numerous shows.
We... thank Mark for letting us know his thoughts on our drums : )
Quack's Kit:

Hi Dave and Don,
I just wanted to let you know that I played my first gig on the weekend (a wedding) and I'm totally stoked at how well it went.
The Sleishmans were a hit and the other muso's were impressed with how they sounded.
The sax and keyboard player, who were sitting to my left, commented a number of times on how sweet the toms sounded and during rehersal before the quests started arriving, the guy who did the sound said that the drum mikes were almost redundant.
From the back of the room the drums were cutting through everything even when he turned the mikes off.
I got one of the boys to have a hit while I stood up the far end of the room and I was blown away. They sound absolutely awesome in a bigger room, the tone is just beautiful, I never dreamed I would own drums that sound like that.
Since buying the Sleishmans I no longer feel the need to tune my drums for 30 mins before every practise session and the floor around my kit is not scattered with literally every type and brand of drum head - pretty hard evidence that I was not happy with my previous kit's sound. As I was saying to my wife just this morning - if I had all the money in the world and could buy whatever drum kit I wanted, I wouldn't, 'cause I already have it! (I would buy a set of Paiste 2002 sound edge hats though.)
Lugs are for mugs!
Take care and have a successful year,

Hi!
I just got your Twin Pedals last Tuesday and I haven't been able to stop playing
since them. These babies are just what I wanted! When the bass drum is in
the middle, my placing problems are history, plus it looks damn cool.
My problem with my last pedals was that when the beater hit the drumhead it
bounced off somehow too much no matter how I adjusted. Your pedal hasn't got
this kind of problems: it works smoothly and plays exactly what my feet tell
ti to.I'm enjoying it.
An excellent pedal, fast, powerful, smooth, accurate. Best one I've ever
played with. Thank you.

Let me start this email by thanking your spray painter. This kit looks amazing and has turned out unbelievable. The kit could have looked two ways, shit or fantastic. Obviously the latter!!! Well done Mr Spray Man, please thank him!!
Secondly, congratulations to Sleishman. Thanks for putting up with my weekly phone calls David. Both you and Richard were only happy to help. It seems you have a great team down there, again, well done.
I have been looking at Sleishman kits for many years and always dreamt of owning one. I have never heard a drum kit sound (or look) like this. You have nailed it!!!
Very, very, very happy, thanks lads.
Heath
Heath's kit (please ignore the hardware, we set this one up in a real rush!):

My name is Luca Folino.
I'm an italian professional drummer now based in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
I played drums for a lot of famous italian artistes like Zucchero Fornaciari, Fabio Concato, Dolcenera, Niccolò Fabi, Umberto Smaila, Eugenio Finardi and many many more.
Now Im playing in a famous live music Club here in Sharm and in my drumset im really proud to say that I have a Sleishman doublepedal.
It really changed the way I play on the drumset!!!
Wonde rful!
How it began.
I'd been playing the same brand of drums for about 21 years & then one night at a gig, a drummer from the support band started setting up his drums. The first thing I noticed was that there was no hardware attached the the shells of his kit. I was completely intrigued, I'd never seen anything like it before. I asked him all about the drums, he told me that they were Sleishman's & that they were made by a guy here in Australia by the name of Don Sleishman. He also told me that Don was the guy who came up with the idea for the twin pedal.
Well, I went home after the gig, got onto the net & starting looking around for some info on where to get Sleishman drums. To cut a long story short, less than a month later I had a set of Sleishman's & my 'old' kit had been retired.
Why I play Sleishman drums?
Sleishman drums just sound better than any other drums ~ it's that simple. No other drum kit has ever had me on the receiving end of so many comments from sound engineers, PA guys & producers alike ~ they just love them! They are great at any volume, extremely tunable & wonderfully resonant. I can turn up to the studio with one drum kit, a couple of snares & know I'm prepared for anything!
The Sleishman Twin Pedal.
My god, finding this thing was life changing for me (in a drumming sense). It was just amazing. I've always been an open handed drummer (left hand on the hats, like a lefty playing a right handed kit) it's how I taught myself to play. For 20 odd years I had struggled with the way a drum kit always sat in front of me 'off centre'. I had never felt comfortable. Then I got the Sleishman Twin Pedal .... it was like an epiphany ~ everything now made sense!
"I feel completely centered sitting behind the best sounding drums in the world. That's why I play Sleishman Drums & Pedals!"
